Help me to seek you and see you today in the passage I’m reading. I know I am unfaithful, but you are enduring and patient with me. You are here and I need not fear rejection. I pray you help remind me that each morning I have new mercies waiting for me. I pray you will heal my wonder heart with truth today as I read your word. It has been a long time since I have read your word and confess my sins before you. I confess my lack of desire sometimes to even read your word. Below I have listed five (more) prayers to pray over Bible study. The Holy Spirit is promised to guide us and I think prayer is the perfect way to tap into hearing from the Spirit. How do we hear from God? We read His word! So as we prepare to hear from God, engage in Bible study, and learn to discover truth from Scripture we need to open up our hearts to God’s leading. Prayer is a way we can get our minds and hearts ready to hear from God. Not because He needs to be “reminded” of us or we need to get God’s attention, but because we need to draw our hearts toward Him. Prayer offers to us a way to open up the lines of communication to God. That is why I think praying over our Bible study is crucial. One of the things I’ve learned over the past ten years of doing Bible study is that prayer and Bible study must coincide. The difference? We have prayer and Bible study. Upside down and inside out, we are different. ![]() The life of a Christian is filled with things like this though. The emotional whiplash is hard on a soul, but isn’t this real life too? Joy and sorrow? Suffering and rejoicing? Hope in the midst of uncertainty. I see so much heartache and pain, but then I see the good, the beautiful, and praise God for His amazing provision.
